A car that will not start in Detroit is usually the battery, the starter or the alternator, and all three can be tested and replaced in your driveway.

Cold is not gentle on a battery. Chemistry slows down as the temperature drops, so a battery near zero can only deliver a fraction of what it gives in July. At the same time the engine oil thickens and the starter has to work harder. That is why January finds every weak battery in the city on the same morning.
The sound tells you a lot. A slow lazy crank that gets slower is almost always the battery. One sharp click and nothing is usually the starter. Lights and radio that go dim while you drive point at the alternator.
We do not guess. The van carries a proper tester that loads the battery, watches the starter draw and reads the charging output with the engine running. You get the actual numbers, not a verdict.
Replacement is quick. Most batteries and a good share of starters and alternators are done inside an hour once the part is in hand. The old part is yours to see and we photograph it either way.

Yes. Short winter trips never fully recharge a battery and three cold seasons is a normal Michigan lifespan.
Will a jump start fix it
A jump gets you moving. If the battery cannot hold charge or the alternator is not charging, you stall again. The test tells us which.
